12th Issue

THE GREAT HARVEST

Seven months ago, second naturales started to work in the vegetable garden. They cultivated lettuce, spinach, tomato and pumkin.

Then, they saw them to grow, they took care of the ants and did a scarecrow.

When the vegetables were ripe they harvested and gave them to the headmasters.





THE SENTRY BOX

Last week, the headmasters Jose Luis and De Arma installed in the school a sentry box, because the students are in danger when they go out from to school. At the moment, the proyect runs well.

Matías said: ¨In my opinin the senty box shoud have been installed in the first part of year¨



SAN FRANCISCO´S DAY

On November 4th we celebrated the 800th aniversary of the Franciscan Order in the school and the high school students participated .They interpreted lepers performed with Michel Jackson´s song .They compared the lepers with the zombies. This was criticized by most students at the school because they didn´t understand. How can they compare lepers with zombies?



THE STANDARD-BEARERS

On Novembefr 18th, the school secretary announced the future standard-bearers. Good news for second "naturales" because they have the best averages. The fortunate students are: Micaela Alcaráz, Ana Laura Pagliaro, Belen López, Constanza Goria, Pamela Quintana, Jonathan Toledo, Hernan Marizza, Macarena Torrecilla and Franco De' Antoni; Congratulations!



LINE TO THE KIOSK

Last Friday the students had to make lines to buy some candies in the kiosk because before the students could´t buy. Now the preceptors Gabriela and Juan control the line. It is a good idea.



FINAL DAYS

We are very happy since we are near the last part of the year, and we don `t want to see the school anymore, at least for this year. However, some students are sad because they have many problems with the subjects, and they have to come in summer, instead of enjoying their holidays and the Christmas.



WHO WANTS TO BE MILLONAIRE?

On Wednesday 11th the students from 2nd sociales saw the film ‘Who wants to be a millonaire?’ with the teacher Graciela Lopez.

The movie is about the adventures of a poor boy in the giant city of Mumbai. His childhood and life are the source that let you know the correct answers for the contest ‘Who wants to be a millonaire’.

A BIG PROBLEM

The teachers don’t agree with the use of fans in the classroom, since they make a lot of noise and the students can’t listen what the teacher is explaining. But the summer is coming and we need them.


ALEJANDRA LEFT US

The teacher Alejandra works in another school because it´s a best position for her. Her work is headmistress of the school. It´s a good opportunity for her job.

Now 2nd Sociales have got a new teacher called Martin. He is a programmer.

Camila Alderete said: The new teacher is a very good person!!



PRISION BREAKS

Last week, the headmasters decided that students mustn’t leave the school before the breaks (11:40 hs).

The students disagree with this decision because this also delays our meeting with the food in our houses, and not only this, it also take out "study time". We think it should be better to go out when the break starts.


THE “INTEGRADOR”

On November 8th , the students from 2nd Naturales had a Math's final exam. That exam was too hard, so only 10 of 38 students passed it. They got angry with the teacher and complained a lot. Unfortunately, the teacher didn’t give any explanation.


TWO LINES!

Weeks ago, we had to make two lines to buy in the kiosk. Because the students "fought" to buy just one candy. Gaby, our "preceptora", watched them all the time.
One advice, never break the lines!


MARATHON OF SAN ANTONIO

On November 15th people are going to run another edition of the marathon of San Antonio.

If you want to participate, you have to bring one unperishable food and 2$ (the school's objective is to donate it). After that, CEFSA is giving t-shirts for all runners (500 aprox.) that are different to last year’s. It’s colour will change.



THE MATH TRAINEE

His name is Antonio . He is the math trainee in 2nd naturales. He is 24 years old and hasn´t got a girlfriend. He is in third year of the university carrer.

SAN FRANCISCO’S CELEBRATION

On November 4th the students from 7th acted Michael Jackson’s song. In the celebration, the catechism teachers (Miriam Beccar and Claudia Folgar) participated, and the celebration was very beautiful.

PASCUAL'S ACCIDENT

Last week Ivan Navarro, a student from 2nd sociales, broke his arm skateboarding, when he was with his friends in front of the school. He was operated last Tuesday in Ciudadela and he is recovering. In this moment he can´t come to school because of his accident.



THE "INTEGRADORES"

The final exams are near... the "integradores" will start next week, the first is literature. The students are studying for this because it’s about all the year and it is very difficult.



WHO DID IT?? -THE CHAOTIC THEATRE

Broken chears, ugly smell, dust, spider webs everywhere... this is the school theatre... Sickening, uh?

Who' s the responsible? We don't know, it's a mistery! It's a slip of the headmasters or the small mind of the students? We don't know, but we will investigate.

A LONG BREAK FOR ALL!

Another surprise for San Antonio School. Drink and sweets for all.

We had a long break of forty minutes. We had a time to see the exposition of boys and girls of third grade. It was so nice! Every work was wonderfull! Congratulations for all of them.


EFFETA

On October 26th the teachers of the school went on an Effeta trip to Cordoba to help people there. They carried clothes, food, books, and other things; and on October 27th the students went too, and they did activities with other schools of the country. They came back on October 31st.

Students from EFFETA went to Cordoba to help a town and give charity. The students came back last Friday, they felt good with this and said: ¨We want to go back¨. They made friends too.

A PROBLEMATIC SITUATION

At the moment the headmaster and the preceptors don´t allow us to buy nothing in the kiosk when the break is over.

This is terrible because the break is very short and all the students are hungry and the person who works in the kiosk is very slow.

Please we need a solution!





MARATHON 2009
(by Rodríguez, Blanco, Arnijas and Aparicio)

The event will be in San Antonio de Padua, on November 8th in the morning. Everybody can participate: kids, teen, grand fathers, mothers and fathers and all people.

The fee is $2 and a not perishable food. People who pay will receive a t-shirt because this is a social event to help people who live in a small town in San Luis, Argentina.

The marathon consists in three activities. One of them its a walk, the other is a bicycle tour and finally the marathon.


NEW FIGHT IN CLASS!

It all started when Facundo Timo insulted and pushed a partner. Alan avoided him and asked him to sit.

Then, Facundo Timo advanced to him and hit his face at that moment the fight started. The partners separated. Then after that's the headmaster talked with Facundo Timo and Alan Piggin and they received "amonestaciones". And the fight finished.


THE BIG LESSON

For this trimester 2nd sociales has to preparate in groups a big lesson for geography about the regions of Argentina. There are six groups. The students have to make a video with images and photos, this can be about animals, flowers, trees, people, cities, etc.

At the moment only two groups delivered their lessons. The first group talked about the Argentinian North West and the second about "Sierras Pampeanas".

THE END OF THE YEAR

The end of the year is coming and the students will start to stress. Nobody wants to fail the exams because all the students want to enjoy the holidays.

The "integradoras" will start in November and we will have to pass them. The students must sit for four exams.

If you fail an "integradora" you will have to study in December. Go to study, now!



THE “JORNADA DOCENTE”

On October 27th the headmasters informed the students they didn’t have classes because of a “jornada doncente” (teacher training day); but on October 28th they informed that the “jornada doncente” was suspended and students had to come to class.

EXHIBITION BY EIGTH GRADE STUDENTS

On October 21st the students and staff of San Antonio School had a ''special'' day, because of the exhibition of paints and manual works by students of eight grade. Also we had breaks of 40 minutes. In these breaks the headmaster gave us drinks and food.

The exhibition was made in the church.


DON’T OPEN THE UMBRELLA!

In the English class, we have been talking about superstitions. Blas, the teacher, commented on different superstitions. Some of them were: breaking a mirror, spilling salt, seeing a black cat and opening an umbrella, the most interesting.

Then, everybody had different opinions. The teacher did not believe in them. To prove it, he opened the umbrella and WE HAVE CAPTURED THIS MOMENT IN THE PHOTOGRAPH! ...

Graciela: They very good, because they are responsible and do the homework.

Graciela: Yes, some days they are unbearable but they are kids and one understands.

BLOOD DIAMOND

2nd Sociales saw the film ''Diamantes de Sangre'' (Blood Diamond) with the teacher Ingrid Richmond in the subject ''Comunicación y Medios''.

The movie is about the life of people who live in Africa and the exploitation and smuggling of diamonds.

In the film Leonardo Di Caprio acts.

The film is very interesting because it has scenes of violence and people die.
The movie received excellent comments of citics.




VIRGEN OF MERCEDES

On September 23rd. The schools from Merlo communicated students they wouldn't have classes the following day because the schools commemorated the Virgen of Mercedes’ day.

In fact they had classes and headmaster informed late at night to the teachers. They had to assist to school although the students wouldn't come...

SCHOOL’S BIRTHDAY

On October 9th, we celebrated the 800 years of the Franciscan Order, 70 years of the primary school and 40 years of the kindergarten.

Also, we went to round-about, hoisted the flag and sang Aurora and the national anthem.



THE SCHOOL TOURNAMENT IS BACK!

On September 25 the head master informed the students of the school “This year the tournament is back”, but only for the student of secondary. There are 2 teams play in this tournament, the red team and the blue team. They have to play different games and sports to win points.

At the end of the tournament the best team wins.

THE CAMPING

On October 9th the children from 7th went on camping and students from 2nd sociales went to help and to cheer up.

They went to camp in Paso del Rey with the catechism teachers.

THE LITERATURE TEACHER

Las week the literature teacher of 2nd sociales got angry with the students, because there was a lot of noise in the classroom. The teacher threw three chalks to the students, fortunately nobody was hurt. The teacher said:¨I leave but I don't know if I’ll come back¨. The teacher didn´t talk with the students again.


FILM REVIEWS

FINDING NEMO

Finding Nemo is about a fish who is lost in the ocean and his father goes to find him, and he lives lot of adventures until to he find his son. It’s a good story. It’s for all the family. It’s an excellent movie.



THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST

The passion of the Christ is based on the story of Christ. This movie feels so intense. The director is Mel Gibson, he’s a fabulous director. We highly recommend it.

THE RECREATION

On September 29th all the school had a recreation to celebrate spring and the student’s day. In these celebration children, teachers and management participated.
In our opinion, the day was very funny and interesting.

A DAY FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS!

This celebration started at 9:30 and finished at 12. In this act some students and teachers participated. They danced, did advertising and other performances.
They gave presents: for students a pen and a lolly pop, and for teachers a note.
This day was very funny!



THE SPRING TOURNAMENT

On September 25th, the PE teacher called the students from 2nd soc to help in the spring tournament for primary children.

A SPECIAL CLASS

On September 28th the students from 2nd sociales with the chemistry teacher (Sandra Burella) went to the laboratory to do an experiment to neutralize an acid.
The elements used were:
  • vinegar
  • cabbage
  • ph paper
In our opinion, the experiment was bad and boring.


REVIEWS

A NIGHT IN THE MUSEUM
A night in the museum is a comedy with adventure, love and an epic battle. The film has exellent special effects and there are stars of Hollywood.
The principal character, Ben Stiler, has a big problem with his son and to solve this, he works in a museum at night.
The film is very funny and we recommend it because the story is beautiful.

THE NOTEBOOK
It´s a film about a dramatic love. The principal characters are two old people in a house of the elderly. Then, the male principal character tries to help his wife with her memory. The film is very sad with a sweet ending. We recommend it for people who like dramatic stories.

SAN ANTONIO SCHOOL

Our school is in San Antonio de Padua next to the Church. It´s a very old building and has an athletics club called Ateneo. The students wear a uniform -grey trousers for boys and grey skirt for girls, shoes, a white t-shirt and a blue sweatshirt.
Lessons start at 7:30 and finish at 13:50, but on Mondays and Wednesdays we stay at school until 5 o´clock because we go to the P.E. class. It starts at 4 o´clock, so we have 2 hours for lunch. We always bring sandwiches and we buy a Coke in Zuly´s kiosk and we have lunch with our friends in the small square in front of the school or in the kiosk bench. We´ve got thirteen subjects and catechims too, and sometimes all the students have to go to the Church to pray.

SECOND NATURALES OUTING

On May 23, Second Naturales went to a excursion to Recoleta. They visited "Greenpeace" and the participative museum "Prohibido No Tocar". They went with teachers Mariana Bienco, Rodrigo Risotto, Alicia Sotomayor, Mitha Serrano and Anabella Petrucelli. The ride was fun, yet educational and the photos prove it. May it repeat!



SANTIAGO VS. FACUNDO

On August 7th in 2nd naturales. There was a fight between Santiago Fernandez and Facundo Timo for a girl. Timo started the fight and the teacher Rissoto stopped the students.

FILM REVIEWS

TROY
Troy is our favourite historical film; it is based on the “war of troy”. The principal character is Aquiles (Bradd Pitt). It is an action movie. We recommend it for teens and adults.


BLADE
Blade is a good film of action and science fiction. It is about a war between humans and vampires. We don’t recommend the movie for kids.


WE ARE EVERY DAY THINKING OF THE SCHOOL

The students think "We are so stressed", and they proposed some time to relax in the school to think about our lives or other things.

This is a project by now, but the students agree with this project.

This project consists in 10 min more for breaks, but we don´t present this project because the teachers wouldn´t help us.

For the moment the presentation of the project is suspended, maybe, in a future this project could be presented.

BUENOS AIRES CITY

The city of Buenos Aires is the capital of the Argentine Republic. It is the crowdest city.

It has a mild climate, and the population talk in Spanish. Also it has a few monuments like the Obelisc, the Cabildo, etc. It has an active nightlife.

Tournaments Canceled

This is terrible!!! All the tournaments in which the school participated have been canceled for the A flu. The virus H1N1 is very dangerous.
Authorities decided on prevention because it is a really important illness.
The students think prevention is not necessary. They want to go to this tournaments and play them.


The CEAMSE in the school

CEAMSE is an company, they recollect trash. They came to San Antonio school to explain the process to recycle trash.

We listened to this thematic class and we liked that process and the photographs about the company.
Remember: Recycle to change the world, and have a better world!


MORE ABOUT THE CEAMSE

On august 23rd the students from 2º socials had one class on the CEAMSE (Coordinación Ecológica Área Metropolitana Sociedad del Estado).

The CEAMSE reduces, recycles and reuses garbage. The CEAMSE has a separation and classification plant. The plant reduces 400 tons of garbage a day.


The chemistry class

Around two weeks ago in the chemistry class the students from 2nd sociales purificated dirty water in the laboratory of the school for an experiment. The experiment failed with all the groups, but only one groups did it very well, that was the group formed by Matias Combi, Matias Lucero, Ivan Navarro and Marianela Palazzi.

That group got a ten, for doing the experiment well.
